All dog owners know their dog’s favorite hiding place that they bolt to during thunderstorms and fireworks. But what to do if your dog is hiding and you need to evacuate in a hurry?
During an emergency, if your dog is in their favorite hiding spot (like under the bed) and you can’t get them out with their name or “place” cue, use a high value treat. Place it directly in front of their nose to lure them out, only giving them the treat when they're fully out of hiding and you have control of them.
Tip: Control over your pet is imperative in an emergency. Make sure you have a leash, collar, and high value treats already stored in your go-bag.
