Quick Question: How do I make sure my dog gets to their crate during an emergency?

All pet owners know  that an easy way to manage a stressful situation is to send their dog to their designated place. This is why the “place” cue is so important in an emergency!

Train your dog to have a positive association with their “place” (crate, bed, area, etc) in a  similar way to training them to have a positive association with their name.  Practice makes perfect! If you practice this and they get it 5/5 times, they’re good! Any less 3 successful “place” cues means they probably need some more practice. Using the “place” cue allows you to not only control your dog's behavior but also their location, making it easier for you to stay safe during an emergency.
