Let's talk about storage!
Specifically storage of our Safe, the designated shelter-in-place Emergency Preparedness Kit. One of the questions we get asked a lot is “where should I store my Safe?” It’s an important question, as where you store your JUDY Safe is just as important as the 63+ life saving essentials inside it.
In general, you should store your Safe (and any extra preparedness supplies) in a visible location that people often use. Some favorite JUDY spots include:
- Pantry
- Front Hall Closet
- Laundry Room
- Mudroom
The biggest takeaways you ask? It should be:
- Somewhere accessible: enough that it can be reached in a hurry.
- Somewhere visible: not buried away, but enough out of the way enough so it doesn’t get in the way of your day-to-day life.
- Somewhere known: so that everyone in your family AND any caretaker, babysitter, or pet sitter watching your loved ones or furry friends knows where too.
Be sure to talk with your family and caretakers regularly about where you’ve stored your Safe Kit and emergency supplies. Above all else, practice accessing it while running though your Preparedness Plan.
